#ICYMI Helen Woodward Animal Center President and CEO Mike Arms kicked off the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” within the animal welfare world on August 14, 2014.
The spine-tingling, water-dousing dare, making waves across the nation now has some fuzzy-faced support as orphan pets and education animals took in the sight of the Center leader making a big splash. A donor and supporter of the charity, Arms has now extended the challenged to Krissie Newman, wife of NASCAR racecar driver Ryan Newman and President of Rescue Ranch, as well as San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer. Newman has accepted the challenge. No word from Mayor Faulconer at this time.
Bolstered by the Center’s mission of “people helping animals, animals helping people,” Arms hopes that extending the challenge within the animal welfare world will not only bring more awareness to ALS, but that it will also publicize the ongoing charitable work these organizations do for all living creatures.
Young Scooter the Chihuahua gets another chance thanks to Linda Boehmer in Tennessee. She hopes he’ll inspire others like her own granddaughter who in the future could be in a wheelchair.
